Quantum Networking Research
In my Computer Networks course each student was tasked with conducting research into modern and future technologies in communication and computer networking. The course intrigued me tremendously and inspired me to research a new type of communication based on the principles of quantum mechanics. When two particles are entangled you can use them to communicate with zero latency regardless of the distance between them.
As I familiarized myself with the cutting-edge technology, I learned that many companies are building and advancing the use of quantum computers, with IBM leading the way. IBM is not only developing this hardware but has also created an open-source development kit called Qiskit for working with quantum computers, allowing anyone to create and manipulate quantum programs.
